How did we start up? Well, by accident. In 1993 Brett retired from the Australian Regular Army after serving 20 years in infantry. The outdoors was an obvious favourite place that he chose to visit on a regular basis so on retirement he went seeking a swag.
To his dismay there was not a swag that suited his height (6'4) so out of frustration he made his own. He set about finding features on the then current swags that he liked, added more and then designed one to suit himself. That’s how it started!
In 1994 we started our business and expanded throughout Australia over the next 12 years. We then decided to commence seeking markets in the USA. To remain competitive we sent our manufacturing offshore, exporting our Australian fabric, so that we could offer a sound product at a very competitive price in this new market. Janene is the director of this company that warehouses and distributes three types of swags in the USA that is specific to their market.
With the success of our overseas manufacturing, together with our past experience in the Australian market, we have sought to bring our new products back into Australia through our business KANGA OUTDOORS. The business name is new but our experience in this field of swags and marine canopies goes back 16 years.
Although we sell direct to the public, as manufacturers, we are seeking wholesalers/retailers for distribution of our swag products here in Australia. We can offer limited stock for trial purposes and we have the manufacturing capacity for large bulk orders. We have a very reputable freight carrier that will deliver in a timely fashion.
